OK. there were a few steps here and there with grammar and proofreading but as a reader of many different genres, articles, books, prose, poetry etc. I was able to put that to the side and read the book, I knew where what should have been so I proofread it as I went along no great shakes.
The book It was brilliant , it felt like I was 'watching' A TV series , like 'Marcella' the build up was taking its time, but taking its time to describe everything and everyone around , this showed perfectly later on when it was needed that the reader should know where the 'action' was happening.Thats important.
Mabletherpe , Normally a sleepy seaside town, until the sun starts to come out and the folks start to come to their caravans for the summer,
Halloween was in full swing and one of the local boys didn't arrive home which was worrying as there had been a body found in the village and parents were already naturally scared of letting their children out trick or treating. They arranged for them to go with adults, the adult Aiden Truscotts group were with left them and went in a different direction...
The book was descriptive , like I said is important, but not overly so that it becomes boring like describing every leaf move on a tree. it builds slowly but the pace picks up and drops again to gather your thoughts and anxiety. The characters are strong and well established. This is a thriller that I haven't felt before it feels like a new genre on it's own, it's a psychological thriller with a real anxiety spanner thrown in to the works.
I liked the fact that everyone was under suspicion, it was difficult to work out ,I didn't work it out which I LOVED.
I am looking forward to more from W.S.Barton. I have read Coal House (brilliant) His writing is fresh , new , exciting and I feel there are a myriad of books in him bring them on , Quickly !
